Shilalekh Digital is a nonprofit cultural project documenting Nepal's stone inscriptions — from the Lichhavi pillars of the Kathmandu Valley to the Mauryan edicts of Lumbini. We work with heritage bodies, historians, and local communities to make these voices accessible to everyone, in their own language.
Mission
Preserving Nepal's written heritage and making it accessible for students, locals, researchers, and travelers — site by site, stone by stone. There are no subscriptions, no payments, and no advertising on this platform.
How the project is built
· Field photography and georeferencing in partnership with local guides.
· Translations reviewed by historians and heritage scholars.
· Audio narration in five languages, free for all visitors.
· Physical QR codes installed beside inscriptions with permission of the custodial body.
